Infants are born with tremendous potential. Their brain and physical development progress faster at this time than at any other time in life. At the core of the young child’s development is the relationship between the infant and the parent. A responsive and present adult is necessary for the infant to develop to their full potential.
At Aroha Nui Montessori and Beyond we support you to understand how your relationship together with a prepared environment lays a foundation that equips your child for life.

Piccolo Community (Foundations)
2-6 months
This is our foundation community for parents with infants. Through this course you get to see your baby for who they really are and how to grow a healthy working partnership with them.
During these sessions we explore various topics that deepen your understanding of your important role as your child’s first teacher. We share our respect for the innate wisdom and capabilities of the child.
The same wisdom which grew the child in the womb is not going to stop just because the baby is born. You will learn ways to support your child’s natural wisdom, their intelligence and their natural movement. You will learn to nurture the relationship you are creating with your child based on kindness and love.

The Piccolo community also serves as a place for parents to support and share information with one another. The programme is based on the Montessori philosophy and inspired by Pennie Brownlee's "Dance with me in the Heart" book and training. You will receive a course booklet with readings and access to an online platform with further links and video content to explore.
This foundation community is for parent and baby up to 6 months old at the start.
To fully enjoy the sessions and to be able to give your full attention to your baby during this special time, we ask you not to bring any siblings. Partners and grandparents are welcome with a maximum of two adults per child.
Our group size is limited to eight families and enrolment is on a first-come, first-serve basis.
Handouts and refreshments are included.
Teenage parents (younger than 20 years) are free.
